More about flower and gem essences.

gemsMary Sue also uses flower and gem essences in her practice with both Animals and people.

What are flower and gem essences?

Flower and gem essences are a form of vibrational medicine somewhat like homeopathic medicine. They are gentle but powerful liquid plant and gemstone remedies that are used to help animals and people with issues of emotional and spiritual well-being and mind-body health. For example, flower and gem essences can help animals and people with grief and depression; fatigue and apathy (e.g. for an animal or person who has been ill for a long time and is feeling exhausted and apathetic); jealousy (e.g. when a new puppy comes into the household and older pet is jealous) and issues around self-worth -- to name just a few examples.
When you or your animal friend take in a flower or gem essence you are taking in the energy pattern or imprint of a particular plant, flower of gemstone. Looked at from a Native American point of view, flower and gem essences can be a way of connecting with the spirit or essence of a plant or gemstone and inviting in its healing presence. In this way, a particular plant or gemstone can beocome a healing ally for you or your animal friend. Flower and gem essences are particularly effective when used in conjunction with Healing Touch for Animals® treatments, and for human clients, in conjunction with a supportive consultation process or energy session.
Mary Sue ComstockFlower and gem essences are generally taken orally. They can be placed in drinking water and can also be sprayed on individual animals -- this is especially good for horses -- and placed on treats, etc. Flower and gem essences can be used safely by animals, children and adults. They should not be confused with essential oils or aromatherapy products (also used by Mary Sue in her practice) which are or use very concentrated plant substances.

How are flower essences made?

Briefly, flower and gem essences are made by placing the blossoms of a particular plant or gemstone in pure spring water and allowing the sun (or moon in some cases) to shine on this mixture. The mixture is later diluted and "potentized" and preserved with brandy.
